Parque Oncol, Valdivia

4.6
#1 of 10 in Wildlife in Los Rios Region
Head to Parque Oncol, a natural reserve in the Valdivian Coast Range, for unmatched views and lush wildlife trails. The 7.5 km (3 sq m) park is situated mostly on Cerro Oncol, the highest peak in the mountain range. Climb to the 715 m (2,345 ft) summit to admire miles of ocean, the Argentine border, and several large volcanoes. Explore the natural surroundings on one of the relatively easy hiking trails, or take a canopy zipline trip along the wildlife-filled rainforest. The park also offers restrooms, campsite facilities, and a coffee shop where you can relax with a hot drink. Plan my trip to Valdivia with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • One of the most beautiful forests of the Valdivian, in a coastal area and overlooking the river Calle-Calle?, in the background the city of Valdivia and as if that were some, to the Pacific Ocean. Access close to the Valdivia by a paved road almost in its entirety, you enter the forest and do not know of civilization and modernity, only nature in all its splendor: flora and fauna. You can see giant ferns and other miniatures, of a single layer of cells; listen to sounds of birds and if you are lucky and show to look at them in their habitat. A gift of a haven, accessible and well preserved.

  • When you reach valdivia told me of this park, but the tour went out 56,000 for 2 people, which as I found expensive. Since the entrance out 3500 and the canopy 15,000 decided to go by bus with my brother to curiñanco. (venta 1300 each passage) to park there are approx 8 km. We walked a bit and a van took us to the entrance of the Park. In the Park we had to follow camiando, toured almost all the paths autoguidos. Then we pulled in canopy, which has 4 seasons, with all the security measures. The guides rather fome, could be more entertaining. In the afternoon we climbed the trail oncol, long found the journey by the stepped, the road is bad. But it is worth, lookouts allow you to watch valdivia, corral, fog, Ocean Pacific, the mountains, and sizing up big which is the Park from the top. Thought I would see more animals, but only heard the singing of the birds. Would be great to stay a night and can climb to the top and watch the sunset. On the way back took us a van to curiñanco. If you're in car no problem, which is not low, not more, because there is a part that not this paiment. If you have good physical condition you can do the route I did, walk around 20 km. Carry my food for the day

  • I have been at the park plenty of time. Infrastructure is good. Given that near-virgin forest is found at so many other places (e.g. Reserva Punta Curiñanco) I consider that tourists that have done a ...  more »

  • Really beautiful sights, 360° panoramic view from the highest point. They have trekking paths, camping and canopy. There's also a mini lodge at the center of the park that offers food and drinks, though it's a little expensive.
  • A must, if you like nature and hiking. The most popular trail (Oncol) goes to the viewpoint from where you see the entire Valdivia city and much farther. They say in good days you can see 7 volcanoes. Trail is midium difficulty. Bring water.
  • Parque Oncol. Private reserve valdivian forest located 32 km from Valdivia (Part of the road is unpaved). Inside, there are areas for camping, picnics and canoping. There are 4 viewpoints, 2 of which are easily accessible by 4x4 car, while the others two on top are at 50-minute trek on Cerro Oncol from the road - intermediate difficulty - From the top you have a 360 degree view from which you can enjoy the Ocean, Cordillera, Central Valley, Part of Pilolcura and 11 volcanoes. among the most important:Osorno, Llaima, Tromador.
  • Nice place, lots of nature, entrance adult sale $3500 and student $1500 with pass and credentials, go with comfortable shoes because requires it both the ascent and the descent. The arrival road is gravel and is optimal, but is not the best, 4 x 4 is recommended but a small car can equal but with a little difficulty.

  • Very nice place, magic since we had a bit of rain and mist, my children and nephews were delighted with the walking tours you can perform in the Park, few places it had to shelter from the rain as quiet to eat something or share a moment s.
