The 7.5 km (3 sq m) park is situated mostly on Cerro Oncol, the highest peak in the mountain range. Climb to the 715 m (2,345 ft) summit to admire miles of ocean, the Argentine border, and several large volcanoes. Explore the natural surroundings on one of the relatively easy hiking trails, or take a canopy zipline trip along the wildlife-filled rainforest. The park also offers restrooms, campsite facilities, and a coffee shop where you can relax with a hot drink. Parque Oncol is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Valdivia Edition.

  • The Park is a great opportunity to appreciate the nature of valdivia. The circuit of "cima oncol" is highly recommended and only takes two hours total return. Access to the Park is rather complicated, I recommend arriving by car (even though not all the way is paved any car can be reached without much difficulty)

  • A must-see if you travel to Valdivia. It is beautiful, suitable for the whole family. There are walking trails with different difficulty levels, but in general all are very easy to navigate and is reachable by car at the entrance of all. The last trail to the top is more tiring, but worth it. I went in the winter, but was lucky enough that just the day before not rained and the day we went was sunny, so the trails were not quite wet and slippery. I think best idea go once with less rain. If you go in winter, climbing maximum 12-13 hours, to take advantage of the tour before it gets dark. Before boarding or on the way back, pass through Pilolcura, really is a beauty. To get to Parque Oncol it is not necessary to go on 4 x 4 vehicle, we were in a sedan that we lease in Valdivia by $45,000 the day and did not have any problems (in fact saved us from becoming stuck in the narrow path of the Park when came larger vehicles). Of trip we went by fog (T-350, T-352 routes); the road there has many potholes, so you have to be careful. Back we went on a road that gets direct to Valdivia (route T-340) inside, which was not in very good condition, but with care there is no drama. Highly recommended!

  • Oncol Park is one of the attractions on your visit to Valdivia; It is privately owned, and it is also open to tourists can visit. A place where you can appreciate the "Valdivian jungle". Among the qualities that have this park, stands out the climb to the hill with 760 meters above sea level, and at the different viewpoints as E.g. Mirador Valdivia appreciates is offing this city, also the Mariquina viewpoint can be seen north of this area. Reaching the top has viewpoints where you can see sea Pilolcura and if the day is clear, you can see several volcanoes. It really is a beauty. The ascent is relatively easy and has trails. It also has a camping area and cafeteria in summer it is possible to make canopi. There are also many birds at some point could see the monito del monte.
