Parque Oncol, Valdivia

4.7
#1 of 11 in Wildlife in Los Rios Region
Head to Parque Oncol, a natural reserve in the Valdivian Coast Range, for unmatched views and lush wildlife trails. The 7.5 km (3 sq m) park is situated mostly on Cerro Oncol, the highest peak in the mountain range. Climb to the 715 m (2,345 ft) summit to admire miles of ocean, the Argentine border, and several large volcanoes. Explore the natural surroundings on one of the relatively easy hiking trails, or take a canopy zipline trip along the wildlife-filled rainforest. The park also offers restrooms, campsite facilities, and a coffee shop where you can relax with a hot drink. Plan my trip to Valdivia with suggested itineraries provided by Inspirock.

  • It is the heart of the Valdivian jungle and you should visit it if or if, I recommend going by vehicle since its trails are well away from each other, so you can tour them all, the place offers a panoramic view of the city of Valdivia and its surroundings seen from the heights , for the same reason I recommend going on a clear day, bringing sunscreen, the place also offers entertaining activities you like trekking, photography and above all the flora and fauna, also has a café, which better.

  • A magical park, flora and fauna typical of the Valdiviana jungle; with perfectly delimited trails, with clear signage, spectacular viewpoints to visualize the majesty of the native forest, from the highest summit you can visualize the Andes mountain range and the volcanoes of the area, as well as the ocean Pacific and the Coastal Range. You can enjoy the sound of the estuaries that flow freely in the forest, you can enjoy the singing of Chucao and other typical birds of the area.

  • Oncol Park (Spanish: Parque Oncol) is a natural reserve located 32 km (20 mi) from the city of Valdivia, Chile. The park has an area of 7.54 km2 (3 sq mi) of which most lies on Cerro Oncol (715 m), the highest peak of the Valdivian Coast Range, but is only 5 km (3 mi) from the coast. Oncol Park is located in an area of 15 km2 (6 sq mi) of continuous Valdivian temperate rain forest. From the peak of Cerro Oncol it is possible to see Llaima Volcano, Villarrica Volcano and even Mount Tronador on the international border of Chile and Argentina. The park is property of the wood pulp enterprise Celulosa Arauco y Constitución.
  • Really beautiful sights, 360° panoramic view from the highest point. They have trekking paths, camping and canopy. There's also a mini lodge at the center of the park that offers food and drinks, though it's a little expensive.
