Mercado Fluvial de Valdivia, Valdivia

4.4
Pay a visit to Mercado Fluvial de Valdivia, a lively market bursting with fresh fish and seafood from the region. Set along the Valdivia River, the market features the locally caught bounty of the sea, which ranges from clams and mussels to a whole host of sizeable fish species. Try some for yourself by grabbing freshly prepared fish from one of the many stands in the area. Note that vendors toss the remains of the fish into the river after cleaning; keep your eyes peeled along the water and you may even catch a glimpse of a local sea lion looking for a handout. • It is like a fair either but smelly fish. It is not something quaint or attractive as they paint it, it is, as I say, one more fair

  • Beautiful place. Fresh seafood available but not all the time. Watch out for forbidden products like local abalone please don't buy forbidden seafood. Nice local fruit and vegetables available. Ulml honey, plants and flowers. Some local handcrafts available like woolen socks and hats. Good deals on boat fares to nearby villages. Some Chinese souvenirs on the street make it annoying.
  • Good quality fresh sea food
  • Is always as it should be, beautiful handicrafts, tortillas de rescoldo, seafood sales more fish of all species, great and good color, artisanal cheeses and many people buying vegetables and cheap! The sea lions make this place an awesome attraction and all sum to qie is a worthy stop tourist place

Where to stay in Valdivia

Valdivia boasts a range of accommodations befitting a regional capital. The hub of activity has traditionally centered around the Calle-Calle River, with many of the longer-established resorts and hotels located on the water or just a street or two back. That said, the inland areas of town also offer a diverse set of lodgings. Look around Plaza de los Rios for some of the city's trendier boutiques, along with a good number of simple and charming guesthouses.
