Zoologico Nacional de Chile, Santiago

3.4
#1 of 10 in Zoos & Aquariums in Chile
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
At Zoologico Nacional de Chile you can see animals from all over the world without leaving the heart of Santiago. The zoo houses exotic creatures from all corners of the globe, such as elephants, zebras, leopards, and even kangaroos. Catch the funicular up the hill to reach the zoo, where you'll have to buy a separate entrance ticket. Impassioned animal lovers might feel that many of the larger creatures are kept in inappropriate, undersized enclosures. • After meeting other zoos in other countries, this place may not be a good choice for a walk. Always like children to see animals, but this time with the cold that to many tropical animals looked sad.

  • The zoo is not that big but it has nice collection of animal. And there is a nice small cable way which gives you a good view on Santiago valley and snowy mountains around.  more »
  • I was alone with my daughter for 3 years in stroller. Bear in mind that have to climb and much not only to get to the zoo but also during the ride. Honestly he did not and it was a bit tiring but worth it. I was little confident because of the reviews but I found large facilities for animals (let me clarify I don't like the zoo seem cruel but decided to make the visit making it entertaining for the kids). Visit also the Buin zoo and liked very much further East, the spaces for animals much more spacious. I may have less decoration but I like much more. Very good facilities, spacious and easy to navigate. If they like the zoo is recommended a visit.

  • Bad infrastructure for the visitors and the animals. Small and dirty cages, really loud with no control of the amount of people that can go in at once. No place to sit down if you are tired and the bathrooms are a joke. Easily one of the worst zoos in South America. It should be shut down. Avoid coming here.
  • Murdering 2 beautiful big cats just because one suicidal maniac decides to go into their enclosure 2 die!!!! You are supposed to protect these beautiful animals not kill them. That imbecile decided he wanted to die you should have do everything to protect the lions not him. Disgraceful you should be brought to justice for doing this you are a disgrace and these beautiful animals deserved better 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
  • Conditions for the animals- disgraceful. Tiny spaces. The zoo is in bad condition. I honestly was disgusted at the upkeep of the zoo in general and the quality of life of those poor animals 😯😟
  • Nice zoo, lots of animals, nice funicular, impresive top view of the Andes Mountains where you can realise the big size of these mountains. Lots of food trucks with autentic local treats and souvenirs.
  • The view is stunning and the park is ok.But in general its not enough space at all for the animals. Cages are to small or the area not wide enough. How it could be on a little mountain.
