The Portillo Ski Center is very beautiful and wonderful lake view. But there are disclaimers. If you are just getting to know and visit and not for skiing you have nothing to do there. The hotel, where there are toilets and restaurant, makes it clear that if you are not a guest is not welcome. When we got there we enter to go to the bathroom (although the Board tell you that was only for guests) and we would like to go to the restaurant for a cup of coffee or a drink to warm up, since there's nothing to do there. There was only the option to pay for a full buffet and breakfast overpriced and Oh yeah we could have breakfast. I tried asking to buy only coffee and the attendants were rough and mean polite. We thought we'd better get out of there. The Lake you can't approach, has to stay away for a fence where people watching for anyone not skiing and is not a guest at the hotel. That is, it's worth a quick visit to meet, because their own way is beautiful, but that's the situation. If you need to make a choice for a place to play in the snow go to Farellones. If you want to meet a beautiful ski center and spend the day having a nice view, go to the Snowy Valley. I spent the day very well, has coffee shops, and restaurants (where you'll be very welcome).

Wonderful place! It's inexplicable the beauty of the place, well worth spending a day at the station, even those who do not go skiing.

Santiago features numerous distinct neighborhoods filled with affordable sleeping options. For easiest access to the city's top museums and eateries, consider the hotels located in the pleasant downtown area, where you can also find many furnished apartments ideal for longer stays. For close proximity to the city's best nightlife options, consider Bellavista or Barrios Lastarria, or head to charming Providencia if you prefer something a bit more sophisticated and less raucous.
