Santuario de la Inmaculada Concepcion, Santiago

4.5
A commanding statue of the Virgin Mary dominates the landscape at Santuario de la Inmaculada Concepcion. Built in 1904 to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, the 12 m (39 ft) statue stands on a site sacred to the indigenous prior to colonialism. Visit the church to admire its stone architecture, and step inside to look for several murals and statues. From the top of the hill, you can see over all Santiago and even to the snow-capped Andes. Take a hike up the hill to get there, or for an easier time ascending or descending, ride the funicular or hire a cab. • A place which brings together religiousness and the beautiful view of the city of Santiago. Is a script that cannot be left out on a visit to the city. Recommend!

  • I loved was in a peace in this place, I made my prayers, and may still have a breathtaking view of Santiago. We don't have anything to see more like it did before arriving at the shrine will tell never transfer sunscreen after sweating, our agony barely see anything. lol, enjoy best don't do like I did.

  • We went with the Teleferico cable car to the mountain, where the gondolas are changed midway. There's also a Combi-ticket - cable car up and the funicular down. So, the booting properly made fun. Once at the top there are plenty of ways a Motte with excellent views to enjoy and to shoot photo's.

  • One of Santiago's most beautiful place! However, for being a sanctuary, it is a bit noisy because of tourists. Even so, always you can hear catholic songs as background music, which are so peaceful. Definitely the view of Santiago from there is amazing! A must visit for all people who are planning to go to Cerro San Cristobal/Parque Metropolitano! You can go there by teleférico (cablecar), funicular (now closed by maintenance until February 2018), car and bikes.
  • Very beautiful church. The art on the inside is amazing as well. A must see if you venture up the hill.
  • Awesome view of the city from here! On weekends theres lot of people jogging and cycling there, great atmosphere!
  • Long walk to the top is worth it for the view. Try to go on a day with less smog/haze.
  • Beautiful spot though the church is kinda plain
