San Cristóbal Hill, Santiago

4.7
#1 of 587 in Parks in Chile
Enjoy panoramic views of Santiago at San Cristóbal Hill. The hill rises 300 m (984 ft) above the city, and its slopes form the city's largest park. Wander the shady, green paths, take a stroll through the Japanese garden, see the animals in the zoo, or take a cooling dip in one of two municipal pools. At the summit look for a sanctuary dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, which includes an amphitheater for holding religious ceremonies and a 22 m (72 ft) statue of the Virgin Mary. Pickpockets and thieves sometimes operate in the park, especially during business hours when tourists make up the majority of visitors. Our Santiago trip planner makes visiting San Cristóbal Hill and other Santiago attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Beautiful place with a beautiful view of the city and many cool things options as the Chapel, the handicraft market and the trails. Well worth climbing funicular, a unique experience.

  • A sanctuary is located in the top of the Hill. We had taken the city tour of two days of Turistik, which stops at the entrance of the cable car and includes the entrance to the cable car (up) and the descent by funicular. The cable car has an intermediate stop, which we do in order to see the botanical, but finally we were not up to it. This stop is in a steep area.

  • We caught the Funicular up and climbed the remaining stairs to the statue, grab a spot in the shade, very peaceful to take in the views. We did the slow stroll back down the mountain, some nice photo ...  more »

  • Wonderful place! You can see the whole city with the Andes in the background. Take the funicular and cable car for more amazing views! A must see in Santiago.
  • The walk to the summit is fun and not so difficult, the water provided is general tap water tho (which is practically undrinkable in Santiago) so preferably bring your own... On the top there are many shops for souvenirs and restaurants as well
  • Wonderful place, from San Cristóbal Hill you can see the whole city and a great view of de Andes.
  • I would give this a 5star rating if they made the actual walking tracks marked with clearer signs as it favours people who use bikes or take a service taxi. Otherwise when you get to the walking track area it’s a good workout and you are rewarded with great views and a monumental structure of San Cristobal
  • A beautiful place to walk, enjoy the view of the city and just get away from the endlessly busy and noisy city below. There's a funicular railway, a zoo and gardens too. It's probably a good idea to always go with others and keep to the main footpaths for your own security.
