Paseo Huerfanos, Santiago

2.8
#41 of 109 in Sightseeing in Santiago
Landmark Tourist Spot
Stroll along Paseo Huerfanos and observe how the city moves as you pass an abundance of stores, kiosks, banks, cinemas, hotels, and cafes. An orphanage that was built here in 1758 inspired the street's name and tall buildings flank the street on both sides. If you want to avoid the traffic, find the pedestrian only zone in the segment between Mac Iver and Teatinos streets. Using our online itinerary creator, Santiago attractions like Paseo Huerfanos can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Different experience but equally picturesque is this another ride from the Centre of Santiago, transverse to the Paseo Ahumada. Banks and fast food place is less intense and busy that the Ahumada. You can make good shopping and walk towards the East until you reach the Cerro Santa Lucía. Between San Antonio and Mac Iver, you find a very good library.

  • Beautiful city, organized, with a very European, very civic architecture, variety of Peruvian and Oriental restaurants; very efficient metro system. Recommended city to visit.

Where to stay in Santiago

Santiago features numerous distinct neighborhoods filled with affordable sleeping options. For easiest access to the city's top museums and eateries, consider the hotels located in the pleasant downtown area, where you can also find many furnished apartments ideal for longer stays. For close proximity to the city's best nightlife options, consider Bellavista or Barrios Lastarria, or head to charming Providencia if you prefer something a bit more sophisticated and less raucous.
