Paseo Huerfanos, Santiago

3.6
#152 of 495 in Things to do in Santiago
Stroll along Paseo Huerfanos and observe how the city moves as you pass an abundance of stores, kiosks, banks, cinemas, hotels, and cafes. An orphanage that was built here in 1758 inspired the street's name and tall buildings flank the street on both sides. If you want to avoid the traffic, find the pedestrian only zone in the segment between Mac Iver and Teatinos streets. • Long street in the center of Santiago, filled with shops, cafes, coffee shops with food typical of Chile, theaters and historic buildings. Most of it is exclusively for pedestrians, There you really feel the movement of this great city.

  • More a street intended for pedestrians, with many shops, banks, foreign exchange brokers. Call the Central Freeway to the Cerro Santa Lucía. It's a walk during the day, to actually feel santiaguino. Night is a little deserted, but there are always several carabineros that way.
