Paseo Huerfanos, Santiago

(2.7/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web)
Stroll along Paseo Huerfanos and observe how the city moves as you pass an abundance of stores, kiosks, banks, cinemas, hotels, and cafes. An orphanage that was built here in 1758 inspired the street's name and tall buildings flank the street on both sides. If you want to avoid the traffic, find the pedestrian only zone in the segment between Mac Iver and Teatinos streets. Using our online itinerary creator, Santiago attractions like Paseo Huerfanos can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Our hotel was located on this street, but coming to the end, on the Hill of Santa Lucia. So every morning visited the first blocks that are not so pedestrian and then we whizz to the subway to go to the shopings or we stayed along this walk, its junction with the smoked Street. We visited the Cathedral of Santa Rita (do not know if it is his real name, but she was dedicated to her). And there is where we saw the colonial part of Santiago... like when you get lost in streets more small. Almost all major businesses have one or several branches on this street (although others are only in the malls). It is a ride that can be make to family, a coffee... and to change with the Argentine pesos, treat yourself to eat something rich in plaza de Armas. I was not dangerous, many police, just be careful minimally and not ostentatious. Enjoy it!

  • Businesses open at 10 am, is filled with cafes where the vast majority take stands, all kinds of shops, street jobs many of them with good prices and quality (e.g. belts for dogs, backpacks with very good ending). It is filled with people to noon, as in every city we must be careful with the portfolio, not get distracted. It is full of Carabinieri. People are very polite and friendly. There are many exchange houses in streets that cut it.
