  • Cute place, went through it the Saturday before last and I saw rabbits, cows, many species of birds, the waterfall is beautiful, and back by passing the Peumos even had the chance to meet face to face with a Fox, an incredible experience

  • We get together a group of friends with the simple idea of a Saturday morning walk. It was very good, we did the Basic, which is an hour and fraction of ida and similar return. It is not difficult, although the first 500 meters are a little steep on the rise, then it is level and is a very pleasant and entertaining ride. The panoramic view of Santiago and its smog is good graphics. We didn't see much wildlife since it is a fairly busy walk, but birds and some lizards if you can see. OK the sad to start and then go longer, in addition to their home circuits is really very close to the city.

  • We went for half a day hiking, so we did the shorter trail which is about 6km in 3hs30 at a very relaxing place because we were with an 11 year old. It is important to take food, water and first aid p...  more »

  • Very nice trekking of 3 levels total of 18 km to and fro. There is a waterfalls at the final destination which is so beautiful. Not for swimming as it is drinking water for Santiago.
  • Entrance fee CLP2,000 Well maintained trail makes for a moderate day hike. Must arrive early (before 9:30) to make it to the top) Excelent for children
  • Some very challenging hikes. Bring lots of water!
  • Dynamic trekking with atonishing views
  • Great place for a good hike - Santiago panorama is not that good, compared to Cerro Manquehue, but the nature views are much more picturesque. There are several routes of different difficulty - starting from route 1, which leads to a small mountain river (popular amongst locals for "swimming"/sunbathing), ending with route 3(Salta de Apoquindo), which is popular for it's mid-sized waterfall; it takes around 18km / 6-7 hours roundtrip (including gazing/taking photos / resting). Involves little to no climbing, but the route is rather stenous - be sure to wear hiking boots(you would suffer in sneakers) and have plenty of water & sunscreen with you. There's also an access to Cumbre Cerro de Ramón/ other peaks, which takes several days of hiking to get to. Park admission - 2000 CLP; be sure to enter before 10 AM , if you plan for Salta de Apoquindo - park staff won't let you in go there if you arrive later.

Where to stay in Santiago

Santiago features numerous distinct neighborhoods filled with affordable sleeping options. For easiest access to the city's top museums and eateries, consider the hotels located in the pleasant downtown area, where you can also find many furnished apartments ideal for longer stays. For close proximity to the city's best nightlife options, consider Bellavista or Barrios Lastarria, or head to charming Providencia if you prefer something a bit more sophisticated and less raucous.
