Occupying the former palace, National Museum of History covers the time period from the European discovery of the Americas to the colonial era, through independence and into the modern era. A full 18 rooms recount Chile's history, exhibiting various collections of objects from everyday life and artwork, including portraits of important figures such as Ferdinand Magellan--the first to explore southern and western Chile. See women's clothing, sewing machines, and furniture. The final section addresses the coup that brought Augusto Pinochet to power and features a sobering display of Salvador Allende's broken glasses. • Had the chance to walk Plaza de Armas last week and very much enjoyed the architectural design of the Museum. Sadly it was closed that day due to the holiday, but still enjoyed the views of it.
  • This museum is located in the Plaza de armas and portrays the entire history of Chile through the exhibitions in its many rooms. I saw in some sites that charged input but on the day we were not charged anything. Only paid if you wanted the audiobook. I found the ride quite annoying! Has many objects such as clothes and weapons and so was uninteresting.

  • Great Museum. Clean, and organized. it has lots of taxidermy. It is free of charge and it has a free (but time-limited) wi-fi internet access.
  • Beautiful. I loved this place. Lots of tree's flowers and shrubs... Beautiful museum.
  • A fun museum with lots of taxidermy. Not too much interactive stuff but you can watch the specialists at work maintaining the specimens.
