  • This church is not very well kept so it really isn't the most exciting one in the city. If you don't have anything better to do then perhaps give it a visit.  more »
  • The Catholic Church of Santo Domingo, belongs to the Dominican order. It is located in Paseo May 21 with Santo Domingo Street in the heart of the city. Initially built in 1557, but due to earthquakes and fire, it was rebuilt in 1595 and subsequent to that date Joaquín Toesca rebuilt the present Church in 1747. It was declared a national monument in 1951. The greater influx of faithful is day Thursday where one prays to the Virgin of Pompeii.

  • Situated in the Centre of Santiago, this church was destroyed by three earthquakes. The beginning of its fourth reconstruction was in the year 1747, obeying neoclassical Doric style with elements of Bavarian Baroque. The interior has many columns and their finish is rough, leaving the concrete blocks, transmitting be a sturdy construction and unwavering, perhaps by the trauma of the previous wrecks. Also features sculptures and works of art, plus keep a clean look. The altar mor is occupied by the statue of our Lady of the Rosary. The body of work is very nice. Worth to check, because it is at the center of the tourist route.
