Centro Cultural Palacio de la Moneda y Plaza de la Ciudadania, Santiago

4.4
Admire the architecture and the works of art at Centro Cultural Palacio de la Moneda y Plaza de la Ciudadania. Both the plaza and the gallery underneath it were constructed as part of a nationwide program celebrating the 200th anniversary of Chilean independence. The former parking lot of the presidential palace was transformed into a wide plaza, and the multi-storey gallery was built to host some of the most important art exhibitions in Chile, as well as the National Film Archive and the Digital Library. The gallery showcases both classical and contemporary art from all over the world, with a full schedule of exhibits available online. If you want to take a guided tour, make an online reservation in advance. • The entrance is a narrrow ramp, the water wall does nothing to cool this space, no seats outside except for smokers, no greenery except a sad tree. Inside is more like the central space of a shopping ...  more »
  • I loved. Free entrance to the 12:00 hours. Cozy space the exhibition El myth of Rome, in the summer season, with pieces that came from the Vatican museums, charmed me. Are 1000 years of history since the founding of Rome until the fall of the Roman Empire. Exciting appreciate art and how the Romans lived. There are other exhibitions too. Possible lunch at the Cultural Center. Highly recommended to visit.

  • The Museum is beautiful, with exhibitions that vary each month (this month was of ancient Rome) and has free admission. Has a children's area, when I went to was full of children drawing.
