Landmark Tourist Spot
Centro Cultural Estacion Mapocho represents an old railway station that has been repurposed as a cultural venue. Built in 1913, the structure was one of several buildings that were erected to celebrate Chile’s first centenary. Once an important hub of rail travel in the country, the imposing building was declared a National Monument in 1976 and restored as a cultural center in 1994. Visit the station to observe its ornate facade, or explore the interior which often holds cultural events, such as art exhibitions, music performances, and the annual Santiago Book Fair.
