Centro Artesanal Santa Lucia, Santiago

3.9
#13 of 91 in Shopping in Santiago
Wander through Centro Artesanal Santa Lucia, a city street market specializing in handcrafted local items and souvenirs. This central market opens all day and sits just opposite Cerro Santa Lucia Park. The stalls radiate with bold bright colours and items hang chaotically on display. Shade cloths and an abundance of tall plants on the walkways provide for a pleasant shopping environment. Typical items include leather goods, woollen clothing, jewellery, shoes, and items made of copper. Don't expect to barter too much as the prices are fixed. Some stalls accept different currencies. • This fair has an infinite number of objects, especially to take as souvenirs or gifts. Of all that I have visited is the cheapest middle is not the demejor quality. We must explore it and find offers and discuss their prices which is where you can get better difference. Never stay with the first price giving them. Regalame your vote

  • I hate shopping - and normally avoid the whole souvenir gig because I hate aggressive sales tactics/people being in my face, packing a bunch of stuff home, and the cookie cutter junk that all looks th...  more »
  • The fair is right next to the Cerro Santa Lucia. But you don't have much choice, stores end up repeating the same goods. I can buy some souvenirs and such.

  • Magnificent place to find South American treasures. A variety of shops offer everything you could need to carry home as presents for yourself or for others. It's located right in the centre of the city, opposite the Santa Lucia hill which is a great point from which to set it to explore other areas of the city.
  • Great open air (but shaded) market with lots of small shops selling jewelry, bags, shoes, clothing, and other items. Great for souvenir shopping, such as lapis lazuli or copper earrings and necklaces, or ponchos, colorful woven backpacks and purses, or leather items. I found a great woolen cap with llamas for only 2000 pesos - maybe because it was super hot in Santiago that day, but great to bring back home, where it is still winter. Metro stop Santa Lucia, exit San Isidro, on the corner of Ave Lib. Bernardo O Higgins and Carmen.
  • Good place to come shop for souviners. Plenty of selection although I'd say every other vendor has the same stuff. Prices are reasonable and there is some room to bargain for a better price if you buy multiple items from a shop.
  • Souvenirs, souvenirs, souvenirs. In the most of kiosks you can pay with bank card. Unfortunately, not in all. Copper, rocks, ceramic, wood, some of souvenir clothes - you can meet there.
  • If you have to go souvenir shopping, this is not a bad place to do it: there's plenty of choice, prices are relatively reasonable, and the vendors rather laid back.
