If you're interested in architecture or philately, visit Central Post Office (Museo Postal). Designed by Ricardo Brown, the French-style building with an ornate white facade still functions as a post office, but also features a postal museum. It was built in 1882 on the spot where Pedro de Valdivia, the founder of the capital city, had built his home centuries ago--and some of the original walls from his house are still standing today. Visit the museum portion of the building to acquaint yourself with Chile’s postal history, see different types of old communication equipment, and to view a large collection of interesting stamps from all over the world. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Santiago holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Central Post Office (Museo Postal) and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Very beautiful building preserved for generations, maintains the atmosphere of the old offices of mail, with its furniture, boxes, the sale of stamps. A reminder for all who send letters and parcels to our friends and family in Chile and the world
