Castillo Hidalgo, Santiago

Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web
Enjoy panoramic views over Santiago at Castillo Hidalgo. Built on the command of the Governor of Chile in 1816, the hilltop fort was designed to defend Spanish colonial interests from nationalist forces. After the country gained independence, the fort was renamed after fallen captain Manuel Hidalgo. For a building designed for defense, the fort displays ostentatious architecture, indicative of late Spanish colonialism. Shaded garden areas surround the fort, with the city laid out at the foot of the hill. • Located in the Cerro Santa Lucia, is a very beautiful old building. Access is not easy for stairs. The view from the top is amazing.

  • Beautiful castle, inside... the architecture is wonderful, a beautiful view! On the outside, the well-kept gardens and everything perfect. It only bad, is that there are that have a bit of care with them cars that go near. Always use the place for massive activities and that is not so good. It is advisable to go for walks in the afternoon.
