Food & Drink
Take a tour of Montes to learn about methods used to create some of Chile's award-winning wines. Founded by four friends in 1987, the winery is the only one in Chile owned exclusively by native Chileans. See scenic vineyards in the heart of Apalta Valley and taste the estate's "Premium" and "Icon" wines, then enjoy a delicious meal at a restaurant overlooking the region's picturesque mountain landscape. Put Montes into our Santa Cruz trip itinerary planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

Where to stay in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz has become known for providing a glimpse into the country's agricultural heritage, though not at the expense of development. As such, you'll find a good mix of accommodations around the main town and its rural outskirts. Refined hotels and boutique guesthouses dominate the main urban area, along with simpler fare for more budget-conscious travelers located on side streets. Heading out of town, a good number of converted farm buildings and ranches offer characterful lodgings amidst the region's attractive scenery.

  • A nice wine tasting tour. Just like any other however the guide was chatty and explained the whole process pretty well. You learn a bit about wine tasting, and they make pretty good wines, which are mostly exported to the US and Europe. The whole structure that houses the storage, wine tasting room etc is constructed based on feng shui. Worth a visit
