(3.9/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
At Yerbas Buenas Petroglyphs, drawings carved into the red rock face are evidence of a civilization from long ago. The petroglyphs served as a place for travellers to document their experiences and contribute to history and culture. The drawings are attributed to the Atacama people that date back as early as 500 CE. The images depict everything from gatherings of people to livestock, camelids, llamas, and foxes. Native and local guides provide valuable insight into the history of their people as told through the rock art. The site is relatively remote, but tour companies offer trips to and from the prehistoric site. • Incredible petroglyphs of more than 3 thousand years... more than a thousand before Christ! Archaeology alive... legacy of pre-Inca Andean cultures... in his travels between Uyuni and San Pedro and more... An ancient wonder... is worth the trip, if only with guide explaining you...

  • Interesting area with petroglyphs easily identifiable. Wear CAP and water, to attack the heat.

  • This ride was our first stop and then we went to the Valle using IRIS with Arch entrance to the Park from $ $3,000 pesos per person in October/16. Is a half-day tour and it's not tiring and very quiet. It is very interesting, lasts 30/40 minutes and our guide Cora Place Tours spent a lot of information about the petroglyphs and the people who inhabited the place. It never hurts to learn about local culture and it was also possible to enjoy the typical flora and fauna of the region. Use sunscreen, lip balm, hat and at the beginning of the tour, in the morning, it's still a bit chilly, so bring a sweater.
