(3.9/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web)
At Yerbas Buenas Petroglyphs, drawings carved into the red rock face are evidence of a civilization from long ago. The petroglyphs served as a place for travellers to document their experiences and contribute to history and culture. The drawings are attributed to the Atacama people that date back as early as 500 CE. The images depict everything from gatherings of people to livestock, camelids, llamas, and foxes. Native and local guides provide valuable insight into the history of their people as told through the rock art. The site is relatively remote, but tour companies offer trips to and from the prehistoric site. • It wasn't in the original lineup, but due to unforeseen weather we ended up having to cancel another tour and then exchanged for this. It was nice to be able to see unique markings of ancient peoples who lived in the region prior to the Spanish colonization. see mainly the representation of animals, often appears the llama, so I concluded that it was a very important animal for that population.

  • This place is part of the tour to the Valley of the Rainbow, the truth did not know the exostencia of this place until we come to it on the tour, is really impressive to see these petroglyphs and learn more about the history of the first inhabitants of this place.

  • very cool to see the drawings on the walls of the hills by people as old. a piece of history of humanity, pity that at some points, the humans of today have also made their mark there.
