  • July, 2017 we hired the tour with another agency, but due to several setbacks, we mated at that agency. At the beginning the decision bothered us because they explained it at the last minute while informing us that the route would be different to which it had agreed to have closed some areas of the National Park because of the snow. However, proposed us an alternative route which we had to accept yes or Yes. We had no other pass through Bolivia to reach Peru to return home. Despite the alternative route, could appreciate the magic of the salar de Uyuni not being possible to visit some famous places in the National Park. The Salar de Uyuni is an awesome place. Beymar, friendly driver (stating that drivers make them work long hours and are not very well paid) and always cared because we were good and comfortable trip. He also helped us a lot to get super creative photos of the landscape. As for the breakfast, lunch and dinner, our driver was also responsible for prepare and serve it. What if I was a bit disappointed was the book us into a "false" hotel of the salt on our last night. In the hotel we had to pay a little bit apart to shower with hot water. For everything else, very well. For those who want to know what to bring, I recommend you carry enough water, snacks and warm clothing. In the second night I had to ask two more blankets because it was a cold cutting until the air.

  • 4 day tour to bolivia: White and Green travel was initially reccomended to us by another tour agency in San Pedro as a company that does things right, and it proved correct. The tour itself was a one in a lifetime experience. Wonderful scenery and wildlife. Eric from W&G is extremly professional and initially organised an english speaking tour guide to travel with us for the 4 days. We did run into some difficultiea coming back from bolivia (the driver had to go to hospital with his daughter and is understandable). However, Eric was at hand over whatsapp at all times to work with the bolivian driver company to organise a place to stay overnight, and an early drive back in the morning to Chilie. Eric was also at the border both ways to ensure a smooth transition. A few general points about tours into bolivia: 1) The quality of the trip will be generally be determined by the driver, if you do not speak good spanish make sure to ask for an english speaking one - other firms we spoke to said the english of their drivers is very basic. W&G has access to drivers and guides with very good english. 2) You need the piece of paper the PDI gave you when you entered the country to cross the border. If you have lost it a replacement can be got from the San Pedro customs/emmigration office. 2) Make sure to bring warm clothes! It can be very cold in the morning 3) The food and accomodation is basic, but generally clean. 4) Make sure to bring around 300 bolivian dollars each to pay for the park entry, toilets and beer etc 5) Make sure to bring toilet paper, towels, soap and around 5l of water each.
  • + We managed to see all the important places - Massive Problems with the car (empty battery, not working brakes etc.) - Driver was nice but kept drinking beer and was never on time

Where to stay in San Pedro de Atacama

As the stepping-stone to the nearby national reserve, San Pedro de Atacama offers an impressive range of hotels and guesthouses. Despite the big selection, prices remain relatively high throughout the year due to the town's status as northern Chile's tourist hub. At the peak of the summer season (late December to late March), some budget-friendly hostels even require single travelers to share a room with another guest. If you wish to avoid that, look into one of the hotels, many of which cluster around the town's central area and line the main street.
