Covering an area of 740 sq km (285.7 sq mi), the reserve presents a real treat for hikers and wildlife enthusiasts. In addition to the captivating views of the salt flats surrounded by mountains, salt water lakes, and one-of-a-kind geological formations, the reserve supports many rare species, such as Darwin's rhea, Andean fox, and Chilean flamingo. The grounds are divided into several sections; expect to pay separate admission fees for each one. Bear in mind that the reserve has a desert climate with temperatures that vary greatly between night and day, so always make sure to have some warm clothes on hand.   • When I went, thought I'd see a lot of flamingos all pink and such ... when actually saw ten, with a faded color, in a lagoon with the awful smell and the scorching heat of a salt flat.

  • Is a very interesting and beautiful place. To the delight of conservationists the flamingos and other birds are observed from afar. Surveillance is efficient to prevent the tourists don't destroy the site. Unfortunately I saw garbage left by tourists that I gathered. Sometimes ashamed to be human. Compulsory program.
