  • We did the hike starting at Villana and going down to Quebrada del Diablo. Highly recommended. The view from the top is great and we loved the hike between the narrow paths.  more »
  • Not to be missed. I got very emotional with this tour. While all the agencies recommend traditional tours (and required), I followed a recommendation to rent a bike and go free, no stop time, nothing, to the Garganta del Diablo and Pukará de Kitor. It's easy to go, but requires minimal preparation. I was in the worst Sun I had to speed up because he had time to come back. But it is very very beautiful. A tip: the garganta del diablo are some canyons that you pass a bike. I was looking for a way out but from what I was told you have to go back and forth the same way. I didn't get to make the tunnels, through time. Did the two lookouts on Kitor and took a total of 4:00. (Not while pedaling, consider then the time stopping, taking pictures, enjoying)

Where to stay in San Pedro de Atacama

As the stepping-stone to the nearby national reserve, San Pedro de Atacama offers an impressive range of hotels and guesthouses. Despite the big selection, prices remain relatively high throughout the year due to the town's status as northern Chile's tourist hub. At the peak of the summer season (late December to late March), some budget-friendly hostels even require single travelers to share a room with another guest. If you wish to avoid that, look into one of the hotels, many of which cluster around the town's central area and line the main street.
