Laguna Cejar, San Pedro de Atacama

(3.9/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Travel the salt flats to arrive at Laguna Cejar, a sink hole filled with water. This hole in the desert now serves as a unique swimming hole due to its high salt content, allowing for swimmers to easily float on the surface. Be sure to bring your own fresh water to rinse off with afterward, or take advantage of the showers that can be found on the site. Once you get out, take time to view the Andes mountains in the distance or remain until after dark for a clear view of the nighttime sky. • When I went was long concealed, looked like a Lake of water stop, very different from the pictures, so if it is cloudy the ride isn't worth it, because the fee is too high for entry.

  • Amazing experience. The salinity of the water stopping you from sinking is fantastic. In addition to the special landscape, as across the Atacama desert. Could only be better the Park Service Center, the showers were in trouble. But still, a great ride.

  • The best in my opinion is the trip up there biking along flat land, with volcanoes aside. The price of access is friendly to the lagoon itself is. Find out before if you can bathe as sometimes is prohibited. Depending on the season, there may be more or less water. The best thing the bike route

  • Astounding place! However, I visited Laguna Cejar on July 2015 which is a winter month in Chile, thus the water from the lagoon was very cold!. The lagoon itself is beautiful and heavily crowded, as it is one of the main attractions nearby San Pedro. My personal recommendation to bare the cold water is to swim to the center of the lagoon, where water is usually a bit warmer. If you visit during summer season (December to March) the cool water should be exactly what you need to face the harsh sun.
  • Amazing place. You need to enter on the water to float...
  • One of the many lagunas. You don't swim in it but in the laguna next to it. Entrance fee is quite steep.
  • Very nice lagoon in a salt lake near San Pedro. You can swim in a lagoon like in the dead sea in israel. The entry fee is very expencive, 15000 C$ p.P.
  • This is the closest thing to a beach in the desert. Floating and relaxing under the sun is quite enjoyable... I recommend taking a tour or biking it's only 20 kms away from San Pedro and totally flat ground! Entrance is expensive so plan to stay here a good time. You can have a picnic in the quinchos.
