Cejas laguna, San Pedro de Atacama

Categories: Outdoor Activities
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
Take a dip in Cejas laguna, a large salt lake surrounded by expanses of barren desert landscape. Like the Dead Sea, the hypersalination of the water here allows you to float easily, so lean back and admire the landscape from the comfort of the water. Be prepared for an unusual experience, and expect to wait at the showers after your swim: everyone wants to rinse the salt off, and the facilities struggle to cope with the crowds that come here during peak times. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Cejas laguna and many more San Pedro de Atacama attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's San Pedro de Atacama holiday planner.

  • Consider the program as the worst cost-benefit ratio of the Atacama desert. The landscape is beautiful, but nothing compared to the other. It is interesting to float in a highly salty lagoon, but the water temperature is very low, so you can stay for a few minutes. There is place for exchanging clothes and shower, with water almost as salty and cold as for the pond!! Admission is CH $ 17,000 (about 25 dollars)

  • We bail even in salt water but in is very difficult, for two reasons: the water is extremely cold, it's breath-taking (in the Sun was a vendor) and the floor is all of stone and hurt her foot. The ideal is to use one of those special shoes for stony ground. Has a hyper cold shower to get the salt but the locker room is just to change clothes have a locker where you can leave things.

  • Extremely salty water lagoon where you do not sink even trying!!! Jump into the water and return immediately to the surface! Get ready for the ridiculous amount of salt sticks on your skin and makes you feel a codfish! There are showers and changing rooms and structure the water is too cold both in the lagoon and in the showers. The tour companies usually make a cocktail to enjoy the sunset.

  • Astounding place! However, I visited Laguna Cejar on July 2015 which is a winter month in Chile, thus the water from the lagoon was very cold!. The lagoon itself is beautiful and heavily crowded, as it is one of the main attractions nearby San Pedro. My personal recommendation to bare the cold water is to swim to the center of the lagoon, where water is usually a bit warmer. If you visit during summer season (December to March) the cool water should be exactly what you need to face the harsh sun.
  • Very nice lagoon in a salt lake near San Pedro. You can swim in a lagoon like in the dead sea in israel. The entry fee is very expencive, 15000 C$ p.P.
  • This is the closest thing to a beach in the desert. Floating and relaxing under the sun is quite enjoyable... I recommend taking a tour or biking it's only 20 kms away from San Pedro and totally flat ground! Entrance is expensive so plan to stay here a good time. You can have a picnic in the quinchos.
  • One of the many lagunas. You don't swim in it but in the laguna next to it. Entrance fee is quite steep.
  • Great view, and amazing to take great pictures
