(3.2/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Named for the priest who dedicated himself to preserving the area's artifacts, Archeological Museum of Father Le Paige features a varied collection of exhibits encompassing the desert's human history. Visit the museum and explore its array of items, more than 370,000 in all, that catalogue the region's development from pre-Columbian times through the modern era. Join in on a guided tour, offered in English, in order to get a more in-depth understanding of the museum's holdings and purpose. • NOT bad that when visit it had removed the mummies for which this Museum became famous Ej. with the Miss Chile, by requirement of the local ethnic groups

  • Eventhough it is a very interesting place and a must of San Pedro de Atacama, currently the Museum is closed and will remain closed for at least two years.
  • It is closed. Actually told a girl architect serving at cafe on the square, they are moving it from place but the pieces in the Museum are not being exhibited elsewhere at the moment.

  • A nice museum showing various archaeological artifacts. It takes about an hour to walk around.
  • Very good. Anthropology surrounding atacama people.
  • thoughtfully put together museum, sadly without the famous mummies, but they give you a long video with their reasons.
  • decent enough... if pressed for time focus on outdoor activities though
  • Already got underway (2016) the construction of new and modern Archaeological Museum, in the same field of the current. Going to count with more than 5000 meters square built. A breakthrough and development to San Pedro de Atacama. Congratulations.
