Named for the priest who dedicated himself to preserving the area's artifacts, Archeological Museum of Father Le Paige features a varied collection of exhibits encompassing the desert's human history. Visit the museum and explore its array of items, more than 370,000 in all, that catalogue the region's development from pre-Columbian times through the modern era. Thanks to the Atacama Desert's ultra-dry climate, you'll find many artifacts in very well-preserved condition. Travel through time as you follow English-language displays dealing with important regional events like the rise of the Inca Empire, the Spanish conquest, and more. Join in on a guided tour, offered in English, in order to get a more in-depth understanding of the museum's holdings and purpose. • I visited the Museum soon on my first day. I requested a tour with archaeologist which made the visit quite interesting. It was essential to have made the visit at the beginning because I understood how and why the region was formed, the peoples who inhabited the region which made the other most interesting rides because I understood why. Recommend.

  • It was also one of the places that we most wanted to see. They charged us the full entry, but were missing many things and the presentation of the texts was not very good.

  • A nice museum showing various archaeological artifacts. It takes about an hour to walk around.
  • Very good. Anthropology surrounding atacama people.
  • decent enough... if pressed for time focus on outdoor activities though
  • thoughtfully put together museum, sadly without the famous mummies, but they give you a long video with their reasons.
  • Already got underway (2016) the construction of new and modern Archaeological Museum, in the same field of the current. Going to count with more than 5000 meters square built. A breakthrough and development to San Pedro de Atacama. Congratulations.
