Aldea de Tulor, San Pedro de Atacama

(3.8/5 based on 140 reviews on the web)
Take a step back in time to the mesolithic era at Aldea de Tulor, an archeological site that has unveiled a settlement dating back to between 800 CE and 1,200 CE. The remains of the ancient village take the form of boreholes--circular clay walls made to collect water. Through the study of the rock layers archeologists were able to determine that the civilization disappeared due to drought. Artifacts found on the site include human and animal bones, ceramic, carbon, seashells, and rocks. Reproductions of houses help visitors fully appreciate what the village once looked like. • This was labelled an archaeological tour which described it perfectly. There were no other visitors on site so we could enjoy the ruins exclusively. This site is 2,500-3,000 years old. It was worth se...  more »
  • Although interesting, the archaeological part leaves much to be desired. No additional excavations were made, and the village which existed is in the imagination.

  • Very intriguing. It's a pity people stopped investigating the site.
  • Intriguing history..but not so much left to see as to the dwellings.Impressive setting in the Atacama..some displays about its history also interesting behind the entrance.
  • Loved it, magic, respect, admiration and many hard-to-explain things live in that village. A place difficult to forget, its culture rich in ancient wisdom (rituals, cultural exchange, fabrics, wood, ceramics, hallucinogens) all incredible, over its current population make this journey a pleasure. 100% happy to have stepped on tulor village and learn about their past.

  • Um sítio Arqueológico com grande valor cultural, mas com parca infraestrutura. É interessante de visitar, mas se não estiver com um bom guia sua visita será curta e frustrante. Leia algo a respeito do local antes e tente julgar se será interessante para você.
  • The site is well, and the spectacular surroundings.
