Termas Valle de Colina, San Jose de Maipo

3.6
#4 of 20 in Outdoors in San Jose de Maipo
Relax weary minds and feet at Termas Valle de Colina, thermal baths within a remote and peaceful mountainous setting. Sit back and survey the skies as the thermal baths warm and relax you. Decent trails can be found nearby if you'd prefer to work up a sweat before indulging in the baths. The roads to the thermal baths are not in the best shape, so drive a 4x4 if you can and beware of lorries in the area due to the proximity to mines. • After seeing the pictures of the site, the arrival is really disappointing. The pools are overcrowded, people compete for space, the cloudy water and the bathroom is shocking so precarious. There is no investment, or the minimum of infrastructure. The pictures don't match what is the experience, in fact. The amount paid on entry is not applied on absolutely nothing. The elderly and children should not go, there is a climb too steep and slippery! The landscape is beautiful, but the visit to Embalse el Yeso is enough to see a jaw-dropping site.

  • The place is beautiful and the interesting proposal. Bathing in thermal waters close to the volcano. The problem is that the place does not invest and apparently never invested in infrastructure for the people who go to the site. Bathrooms in terrible conditions. The pools well packed. Some of them have to compete for space. The access is very far away and very difficult. A long time sacolejando inside the van. Well worth meeting, but wouldn't go back.

  • The pools were nice and warm, and the view was beautiful. But it was very crowded and the water in the showers was ice cold and there weren’t any proper spaces for changing clothes. Also the toilet wa...  more »

  • It is a nice thermals - totally rustic, without services, but with amazing view
  • Thermal bath open 24 hours with 4 small warm pools (temperature of the water from 35 °C to 50 °C). The road to reach the destination can be challenging (especially if you don't drive a SUV), but it's worth driving till there to relax in warmth while it snows and there are condors flying around. The entrance costs 8000 CLP. I'll give 5 stars when the restrooms are improved.
  • One of the best trips out of Santiago. It's a must for tourists
  • It's a magic place! Very quiet with amazing hot springs at different temperatures.
  • The hot springs lowered in temperature as you go lower down the hill and we found the 3rd one from the top to be perfect for us. I didn't see anybody using the upper most one as it's probably too hot. It was overall a good experience and the drive there was fun and scenic. The major downsides are the price to enter at 8,000 Chilean pesos per person, the smelly washroom, and crowdedness.
