Solo Expediciones, Punta Arenas
(4.2/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Two islands off the coast of the city, Solo Expediciones feature prime viewing spots for penguins and sea lions. Several boat tour companies offer different options to visit the islands together, or you can choose to see just one or the other. Alternatively, for a lower price tourists can board the regular ferry for a five-hour round-trip, including one hour on the island. On Magdalena Island, scope out the sight of a large Magellanic penguin colony--you can get really close to them on designated paths. On Marta Island, you’ll see a large population of sea lions, as well as cormorants, Antarctic pigeons, and sea elephants. As you travel, you may even be lucky enough to spot a few whales. Bring snacks or a picnic lunch if you wish. Arrange your visit to Solo Expediciones and discover more family-friendly attractions in Punta Arenas using our Punta Arenas trip builder.

  • Unfortunately the weather was bad, we unfortunately could not return for the penguins since we had not Terminflexibiltät. We found the tour to the condors far too expensive. The leader could English unfortunately only very poorly, even though he was engaged. The Englishwoman in the station was nice, but somewhat unenthusiastic.

  • My husband and I took this tour on November 26th. I had booked it through a travel agent in North America and when I changed a date I didn't realize that flight times were different and I didn't catch...  more »
  • We made the trip to Marta and Margarita Islands at a price of 63,000 pesos but higher than other companies. You go when say you 6,15 h out at 6.30 pm but the reality is that you go to the time and not sales until it reaches around the world, pay and stuff with what are you waiting for at that time about 30 minutes, then starts the shuttle bus and then still waiting for to most people... When you get to the island you indicated that you walk that you do not stop and continue making a designated circuit and when you realize these again on the boat, (hoping again that reach those who have ignored and made to wait for the rest) without just having enjoyed the penguins. Long used for very little enjoyment
