Park of the Strait of Magellan, Punta Arenas
(3.6/5 based on 440 reviews on the web)
See a piece of Chile's history at Park of the Strait of Magellan, built in 1843 after the Republic of Chile took possession of the Magellan Strait and surrounding area. Named after the president at the time, the wooden fort was reconstructed in 1943 and has since opened to the public. Explore the complex, built entirely out of wooden logs, and see the church, jail, post office, a small museum, and old cannons. Standing on top of the small hill, you can enjoy the views of the rocky beach and sea below. • We did ride to Fort Bulnes which includes the visitor center and is very beautiful and interesting. It serves to know part of the history of those sailors who ventured through those dangerous seas.

  • Some years ago that not traveled to old Fort Bulnes, now Park of the Straits of Magellan, but the experience was rewarding. Although I find somewhat expensive $10,000 by the entrance, actually I can attest to the enormous improvement in infrastructure of this national monument and the sensible of the information center where you can see the history of this area of wild and hard reading, audios, videos, etc.. I definitely recommend it.

  • A great Park to visit and learn of the history of Chile, all its infrastructure to been aided since the Park is in private hands but does not take away charm, the value high for Chileans and much more for foreigners but a nice walk to arrive in punta arenas to bulnes (Park of the Straits of Magellan)
