Palacio Sara Braun, Punta Arenas

4.5
#2 of 11 in Museums in Magallanes Region
Built at the turn of the 20th century, Palacio Sara Braun was once the home of a powerful Portuguese trading family. Today, the building serves as one of the top historical attractions of the city. A large part of the building's appeal lies in its Neoclassical architecture, designed by French architect Numa Mayer. Walk through the residence to observe well-preserved furniture, paintings, and other artifacts from the time of its construction. • IN Punta Arenas, the Palace that houses the Museum, called Palacio Sara Braun since it belonged to the family of this woman, is a place that takes you to other times, with furniture and interesting time facilities

  • It is necessary to enter with guided visit to discover the reason for its creation and its importance. I think that it is more significant than just the luxury showing.

  • Very good accommodation metres from the main square of Punta Arenas. In exquisite food restaurant in exclusive preparation. Finally, a nice closing of the day at the tavern in pleasant atmosphere, with setting that resembles a ship, special to enjoy a conversation with a good drink and some of their snacks.

Where to stay in Punta Arenas

Punta Arenas boasts a huge selection of hotel options within its bustling sprawl, which range from low-key restored manors and homes to modern lodges and high-rises packed with amenities. You'll find an array of mid-range accommodations in the city's downtown area, within a few blocks of the waterfront and river. This gives you easy access to many of the city's most popular attractions and places to visit. However, Punta Arenas features very few true budget accommodations due to the large tourist industry and huge influx of cruise ship passengers that frequent town.
