Palacio Sara Braun, Punta Arenas

(4.5/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Built at the turn of the 20th century, Palacio Sara Braun was once the home of a powerful Portuguese trading family. Today, the building serves as one of the top historical attractions of the city. A large part of the building's appeal lies in its Neoclassical architecture, designed by French architect Numa Mayer. Walk through the residence to observe well-preserved furniture, paintings, and other artifacts from the time of its construction. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Punta Arenas holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Palacio Sara Braun and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • There isn’t much to do for an afternoon in Punta Arenas, so this is a good choice. You have to ring the bell to get let in and then buy a ticket, but inside is a nicely appointed historic house. There...  more »
  • The architecture, neat care and beauty of this place are wonderful. A House that housed such history and which remains intact thanks to the professionalism and dedication that is given. Their furniture, their spaces, are of a unique beauty and most important was home of a great benefactor of the city, who knew how to share their goods with others. It is difficult to imagine the tremendous effort that I mean its construction considering the distance from the city, its climate and in the period that was lifted. All a success for their builders. It is located in the heart of the city, opposite the main square
