Palacio Sara Braun, Punta Arenas

4.4
#2 of 11 in Museums in Magallanes Region
Built at the turn of the 20th century, Palacio Sara Braun was once the home of a powerful Portuguese trading family. Today, the building serves as one of the top historical attractions of the city. A large part of the building's appeal lies in its Neoclassical architecture, designed by French architect Numa Mayer. Walk through the residence to observe well-preserved furniture, paintings, and other artifacts from the time of its construction. • It is a very beautiful and well maintained Palace that charge entrance, but worth the visit. It also has a bar on the side along with a cup of coffee.

  • It's like being in a Museum of France alone that you can touch everything and feel like actually lived in these times. You can not miss this place is fascinating.

  • The place has not contained historical, nothing of narrative, nothing at all, they are a pair of classrooms, they charge you 2000 thousand pesos for a living room and a former Ballroom. The tour is made in 5 minutes.

  • Very beautiful the little that you can visit, the Palace had originally 25 rooms, however there is no or a room to display, apart is very little that you can tour the other half is completely modified by a hotel, which makes it that is foot GDR in much the magic of the place. They charge a very economic input of $2,000, however around the corner is the House where lived the brother of Sara, which is incredibly beautiful and free admission.

  • No doubt is an emblematic place of Punta Arenas, family and history of the woman whose name takes the Palace are reflected in the grandez of the House he lived in. The House and furnishings are in very good condition, but the garden, especially having seen so many flowers in the city could be improved, front is lackluster. Although the entrance is not expensive ($ 2000), seemed a high price for what is scrollable. Our favorite was the solarium where there is the hotel's restaurant.

  • Part of the Palace is occupied by the Jose Nogueira Hotel. This Palace is a typical architecture brought from Europe by the more powerful and wealthy pioneer of the time such as Braun, Menendez and Nogueira families among others.
