  • A must if you are in Punta Arenas. Walk slow 2 hours up to the lighthouse at the edge of the sea. Unlike other tourist sites this is less massive and allows more intimate contact with the place, all the way is sublime, the sky, the sea and the forest is a single route. The Lighthouse is right on down the Mainland Cape and the view is surreal. (Very necessary to wear good shoes for walking and waterproof: the slope of the beach exhausted and need to cross three rivers)

  • We make first visit to Fort Bulnes is not to be missed, then we make the walk to the lighthouse, most of the road is loose gravel type which makes very digicil walk (especially to my have spinal problems) would be good to open a path controlled by the forest with width to a person that would facilitate the arrival to more public with mobility problems. The winds are strong and we had a little bit of rain, but worth the arrival, the view and the emotion of the moment pay effort. The bad thing is that we got and we did not find the person in charge to ask for permission to enter but we enjoyed the lighthouse from the outside anyway. AAH and we ate what we sobro pizza Bar Bulnes from last night xD ajajaja

  • The opening of the road to Punta tree has given us the arrival to the footpaths approaching bordering the Strait of Magellan at the end of the American continent. Running those trails that go into forests bordering cliffs, cross river mouths and take you by the famous Patagonian peat bogs, have the opportunity to experience one of the trail more spectacular and demanding that I have known. Without hesitation, I recommend it. Depending on the condition of each, you can make tip tree to the lighthouse back and forth on little more than one hour, until something more extreme, travel approximately 60 ida kilometers and return to Froward Cruz in a little less than 20 hours.

Where to stay in Punta Arenas

Punta Arenas boasts a huge selection of hotel options within its bustling sprawl, which range from low-key restored manors and homes to modern lodges and high-rises packed with amenities. You'll find an array of mid-range accommodations in the city's downtown area, within a few blocks of the waterfront and river. This gives you easy access to many of the city's most popular attractions and places to visit. However, Punta Arenas features very few true budget accommodations due to the large tourist industry and huge influx of cruise ship passengers that frequent town.
