  • The opening of the road to Punta tree has given us the arrival to the footpaths approaching bordering the Strait of Magellan at the end of the American continent. Running those trails that go into forests bordering cliffs, cross river mouths and take you by the famous Patagonian peat bogs, have the opportunity to experience one of the trail more spectacular and demanding that I have known. Without hesitation, I recommend it. Depending on the condition of each, you can make tip tree to the lighthouse back and forth on little more than one hour, until something more extreme, travel approximately 60 ida kilometers and return to Froward Cruz in a little less than 20 hours.

  • I went several times this summer for business reasons with tourists to visit the lighthouse, we enter to learn the "Museum" which is inside the lighthouse and we got on the same lighthouse from where can get a panoramic view of the Strait of Magellan and Bay Eagle... You can see many birds, sea lions and humpback whales even from there. While for us it was a rewarding experience and the tourists were very happy with the visit, is access to the interior of the Lighthouse is not public must ask permission before and pay approx. 2.000 CLP to the person in charge/dealers to enter since it remains closed to the public normally. Because of this, many people who were there (including locals) was very upset by this situation which seems to me to be unjust and that should solve soon since it is a very important and beautiful place from the point of view historical and heritage that must know and must allow the people controlled access inside the lighthouse.

  • At the end of the route 9 South begins this beautiful hike along the banks of the Strait of Magellan. After two hours approximately san isidro will reach the lighthouse. I recommend it 100%

Where to stay in Punta Arenas

Punta Arenas boasts a huge selection of hotel options within its bustling sprawl, which range from low-key restored manors and homes to modern lodges and high-rises packed with amenities. You'll find an array of mid-range accommodations in the city's downtown area, within a few blocks of the waterfront and river. This gives you easy access to many of the city's most popular attractions and places to visit. However, Punta Arenas features very few true budget accommodations due to the large tourist industry and huge influx of cruise ship passengers that frequent town.
