Volcan Calbuco, Puerto Varas

(4.7/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Climb the area around a recently erupted volcano at Volcan Calbuco. The attraction erupted in April 2015, covering the surrounding countryside in volcanic ash. By August of the same year, officials reported the volcano alert levels of this site had returned to normal, and tourism opened to the area again. Although you cannot climb to the summit, you can explore the base to observe the snow-capped top of the mountain. You can take the cable car to ride up part of the mountain and hike from there to view lush flora; then head to the nearby lake for a swim after descending the volcano.
