Museo Antonio Felmer, Puerto Varas

4.7
#3 of 13 in Museums in Los Lagos Region
Journey back to the early colonial days of Chile with a visit to Museo Antonio Felmer, housing various artifacts from the early 19th century, a time when German immigrants settled this part of the country. Exhibit highlights include agricultural machines and furniture, many donated by the area's German community. Ask the guides to explain anything confusing or unfamiliar, or read the information signs to gain a deeper understanding about the displays. Plan my Puerto Varas trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

We were cared for by the great-grandson of the founder which guided us and explained thoroughly there gathered objects that consist of the the most varied collection of tools, machines, clothes, household items, kitchen utensils, devices of music from the first settlers in the region.

Very interesting. You can learn more through the tour of what was the colonization in the area. Have it beautifully dyed and with many articles of the period. Worth to visit family and take advantage of children.

An excellent choice for these evenings of rain in our South. It is very beautiful to explore the history of settlers as the first generation to sacrifice both... in search of opportunities... I definitely recommend it!

Where to stay in Puerto Varas

To enjoy views of the volcano, stay as close to the edge of Llanquihue Lake as possible. Most higher-end accommodations sit right on the lake's shores, with a range of resorts and boutique hotels offering a touch of luxury. Look a few streets back from the lake for a choice of budget hostels and small guesthouses. Reserve your place in advance to avoid disappointment, regardless of the season.
