Catedral de Marmol, Puerto Rio Tranquilo

(4.9/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
On the shores of Lake General Carrera, Catedral de Marmol represents evocative marble caves and pillared structures reaching down into water. Called a "cathedral," the caves look sculpted with purpose by an artist's hand rather than nature. Join a boat tour or rent a kayak to see the curious blue coloration of these rocks, the result of calcium carbonate buildup. • We arrived at the airport in Balmaceda, hence we take a transfer Valencia to Coyhaique which cost 5 pesos per person. In Coyahique we stayed at Hotel Madero, excellent and hired an excursion towards the marble Cathedral which cost us 55 thousand dollars by people. Leaving around 7 am, quiet port from where comes the boat towards the Cathedral, chapels and marble caves. A journey that is worth the penalty in all its expression, turquoise water, the amazing marble caves. The crossing lasts an hour and a half. A unique and magical destination. In quiet River tourism infrastructure is well limited.

  • The place is really incredible, the color of the water of Lake General Carrera is beautiful. To get to the chapels and Cathedral tour you can take in the quiet port, there are many operators and almost all go out approx. per person $10,000.-I recommend if you go by car arriving early from Coyhaique to quiet port are about 3 to 4 hours, many vehicles are not allowed and there is no cell phone signal. We found the tour Coyhaique and approx cost $50,000.-per person

  • This trip is not to be missed if you are in the area. I understand that it can be from several places, including from the Argentine side. I was lucky to visit this natural monument in low season, there were more tourists that were in my boat, so we could enjoy without any discomfort.
