Catedral de Marmol, Puerto Rio Tranquilo

Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web
On the shores of Lake General Carrera, Catedral de Marmol represents evocative marble caves and pillared structures reaching down into water. Called a "cathedral," the caves look sculpted with purpose by an artist's hand rather than nature. Join a boat tour or rent a kayak to see the curious blue coloration of these rocks, the result of calcium carbonate buildup. • We had a day of wind and return with rain and some hail, so was 'entertaining' return to nearly two meters of waves in a small boat. The promenade is recommended although not as in the photos, not even is marble!

  • Excellent place very cute, the guides of the boats very nice. Not expensive and really beautiful.

  • Stop mandatory for anyone visiting the region. I have visited this place twice and it never ceases to amaze me; the colors, shapes and the environment, everything is incredible. While the journey from Coyhaique is long, it's worth completely. Anyway, there is the option to stay at Puerto Tranquilo and take advantage of the visit to explore other natural attractions.
