Cueva del Milodon, Puerto Natales

(3/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Stare into the jagged-toothed mouth of Cueva del Milodon and find out if you have the courage to enter a mysterious cave. A natural monument, the 200 m (656 ft) long cave stands out not so much for its scenic beauty, but for its archeological importance. It was here that the best-preserved remains of the mylodon, a genus of giant sloth that became extinct more than 10,000 years ago, were found. Weighing in at over 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), the beast would have made for an intimidating foe. Look out for the life-size statue of the enormous ground sloth, built in memory of the discovery. Make Cueva del Milodon a part of your Puerto Natales vacation plans using our Puerto Natales holiday planner.
