#5 of 13 in Nature in Magallanes Region
Geologic Formation Nature / Park
Not as intimidating as it sounds, Channel of Last Hope (Ultima Esperanza) is a glacier-carved inlet filled with blue waters. The channel was named by the 16th-century Spanish explorer Juan Ladrillero, who felt the inlet was his last chance to reach the Strait of Magellan. Take a boat tour to see small glaciers, sea lions, and local birds. Note that a boat trip will take up most of your day and unpredictable weather may cause cancellations. • We went by boat to the channel where they offered views of the mountain the Glacier Balmaceda and Serrano, accessible via a short walk the trail at the Bernardo O'Higgins Park. Very good!! Recommend!!

  • A majestic place worth knowing. If you touch a sunrise on a boat along the fjord the colors you'll see will leave you amazed. Then, the glacier Balmaceda and Serrano: two wonders.

  • The ride did we undertake with Tour 365, who worked with the operator may 21 (the only available since Agunsa provides service only in high season). The ride is excellent, but makes muchism cold, so it is recommended to go with long coat, gloves, hat, several layers of clothing, nothing is worth. In the boat fit 200 people comfortably seated and the guides were very good. This walk is possible to visit the Serrano and Balmaceda glaciers, admire several waterfalls, spotting condors nest (is not so close), cormorants, sea lions (except in low season) and visit the national B. Ohiggins Park. Lunch was good, consomme, grilled Magellan Lamb with salad and dessert (including vegetarian option), in a House with surroundings very nice to walk and take pictures.

  • Very good food! Professional personals! Cordero and centolla very fresco and cooked in a very simple way taste wonderfull. Paolo Elisa. Italy
  • Great Chilean food. They have crab and abalone
  • Great lunch spot.
  • Dirty cloth napkins. Dirty tablecloths. Mashed in a box. Redoubtable food. The meats are not good. There is no natural juices. Messed up. They were hurried. And it's not a place cheap...

  • Rich and abundant, food good. Missing a bit of atmosphere, improve music and decor to make it more warm and pleasant.

Where to stay in Puerto Natales (Torres del Paine)

Despite Puerto Natales' tourist-centric approach, accommodations remain as low-key as the town itself, and many backpackers and trekkers opt to stay in the numerous small lodges and hostels here. These shared spaces feature extremely basic facilities, though combined with cozy common areas and the friendliness of family-run establishments. Many of these hostels are also more than willing to arrange travel if you want to set out into the mountains. As in many of the nation's outdoor-adventure hubs, Puerto Natales' lodging options tend to offer lower rates during the low season.
