Parque Nacional Alerce Andino, Puerto Montt
Categories: National Parks, Nature & Parks
Hike through South America's equivalent of a California redwoods park at Parque Nacional Alerce Andino. Though it contains many trails, rivers, and waterfalls, the highlight of the park remains the Fitzroya cypress forest, covering approximately 200 sq km (77 sq mi). Explore the many paths leading through the forest, over the rivers, and up the mountains, and admire the views of pristine nature. Keep an eye out for deer and monkey species that call this area their home. Plan your visit to Parque Nacional Alerce Andino and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Puerto Montt itinerary builder.

We entered by the Lenca entry (there are 3 entries, and this seems to be the main). We marked on Google Maps "Guardaparque Chaicas Alerce Andino National Park to get there. Don't worry if you don't have data, just download the offline area in the application and call the cell phone GPS, works perfectly. In the Park, we did a trekking of 4 kms (8 round trip) to reach the Millennial Alerce and has been a unique experience (stand next to a tree of more than 3000 years is very gratifying). Recommend!show original

Roberto ÓrdenesSo it does not matter what we live... the Park has 3 inputs (Correntoso, Zargazo, Lencan) as there was no much information and no clarity of walks, which were finally by intuition, we went to the entrance by Lenca, it did not disappoint since it is an almost flat circuit that anyone can do it, wonderful landscapes and good access, is very well maintained and informed account at the entrance with bathrooms and information Conaf, in terms of distances are 4 k to the waterfall did not put pictures to make you surprise and 600 meters more climbing a staircase is the ancient larch. After 6 k is the first lagoon, take into account that road there until the triangle is more difficult and you need time 9 k from the entrance.show original
