Parque Nacional Alerce Andino, Puerto Montt
(4.6/5 based on 260 reviews on the web)
Hike through South America's equivalent of a California redwoods park at Parque Nacional Alerce Andino. Though it contains many trails, rivers, and waterfalls, the highlight of the park remains the Fitzroya cypress forest, covering approximately 200 sq km (77 sq mi). Explore the many paths leading through the forest, over the rivers, and up the mountains, and admire the views of pristine nature. Keep an eye out for deer and monkey species that call this area their home. Plan your visit to Parque Nacional Alerce Andino and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Puerto Montt itinerary builder.

  • The Parque national Alerce Andino has 3 sectors and 2 inputs. We are driven by car from Puerto Montt on the coast road until Lenca and then the 7 km dirt road up to the entrance of the Chaicen sector. The Ranger told us that the way to the Laguna Chaiquenes is locked, but could be committed at your own risk. the way to the Laguna Triangulo is too wide. We have migrated up to the Laguna Triangulo anyway, it's doable in one day if you purposefully runs, is sure-footed, has good, high walking / hiking boots, is sufficiently fit and not afraid of dirt and root overgrown paths. We had real runtime nearly 3 hours up top and about 2 1/2 hours back down. The Park opens at 9: 00 and you have to be back at 4: 00 - it is so worth to start early. The way of the Laguna Chaiquenes up to the Laguna Triangul is the most beautiful part of the Park, the way is overwhelmingly beautiful, a green jungle, nobody to see and hear anything other than birds, the rustling of the wind and the murmur of the stream. For experienced hikers with sufficient condition a Pearl.

  • We went with my children and we were delighted with the place. 1 day we visited 2 accesses which has the Park (Correntoso Chamiza-rio and along the southern road) the Sargasso Lagoon (Chamiza) recommended Full and impressive ancient larch (Southern access road) both sites are well maintained by Conaf and the Rangers will help them - and guide - any necessary
