Santuario el Cani, Pucon

(4.7/5 based on 140+ reviews on the web)
Enjoy a range of hiking options at Santuario el Cani, one of Patagonia's most picturesque and memorable trails. The forest shelters one the world's oldest tree species, the araucaria. This private nature reserve covers an area of 607 hectares (1,500 acres), and trails here generally require a full day of trekking, so those of low fitness levels or walking experience should approach with caution. If you're up for the challenge, take the three- to four-hour trek to the highest point at the park--prepare to go uphill almost the whole way. Using our international travel planner, Pucon attractions like Santuario el Cani can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • After more than 10 visits to the Park Huerquehue, the Cañi surprised me. Climbing stronger, made me doubt several times, but when you reach the lagoon the Totoras, I was convinced that the effort would be rewarded... The views towards them Lakes Villarrica and Caburga, to them robles aged e immense of high, to them Araucarias araucanas in all their stages of growth, the diversity of flowers wild in the road, besides Myrtle, tepas, coihues, ulmos, lichens, etc., already had made of the road a great panorama. Then came the lagoons, surrounded of forests, with waters Crystal, the silence and peace for a good rest, before continue to the Summit. and finally one of the most beautiful views across the Valley and the volcanoes Villarrica, Lanin, Quetropillan and Llaima. A trekking that although is a little long, not is can let's do!

  • Beautiful and magical, totally worth the effort. Things you need to know before are: early starting since trekking lasts not less than 5 hours carry sufficient food and hydration thinking about lunch at the Lake before the final ascension arriving by car at the entrance is recommended caution in down since the amount of powder is high and there is a high risk of slipping enjoy it!
