Parque Nacional La Campana, Olmue
(4.6/5 based on 160+ reviews on the web)
Travel through nature's beauty on a hike through Parque Nacional La Campana, home to one of the last remaining wine palm forests. Seek adventure on one of several trails, or head to the base of Bell Mountain, where a relatively easy trek offers plenty of exercise to families with young kids. Make sure to take hiking boots and a camera for some photos of the mountainous landscape. The last leg of the hike becomes a bit more difficult, but it leads to an old Russian observatory, making it worth the trouble. • The Park has several trails to go (I think 6). There is one with high difficulty, which is to come to the top. The truth is that much worth doing so, but you have to be prepared, they are 4:30 hs. climb up to the top and 3:30 hs. down. If you're not ready to make such a hike, I recommend not to do so. You must also carry much water, something light to eat food each a couple of hours and very comfortable shoes for walking trails with lot of stone. The last part of the ascent and descent (1 hour) first becomes quite difficult because they are many large and steep rocks. I went with a friend who had gone and knew the road enough, but in some parts the signage is not entirely clear. Be at the top at 1900 meters above sea level is really incredible.

  • We stayed two nights in the park. The entrance fee is somewhat expensive given the fact that the showers were cold, the dirt track roads are dreadful and there was no power in the plugs in the toilets...  more »
