Fuerte de Niebla, Niebla

4.5
#1 of 9 in Museums in Los Rios Region
On the edge of the Pacific Ocean stands Fuerte de Niebla, one of the historical Valdivia forts which the Spanish Empire built in the 17th century in order to protect the city. The fort's foundations lie on a cancagua stone slope about 30 meters high, dominating the entire bay and open sea. Original canons still line the cliffs edge overlooking the bright blue water. See soldiers reenact traditional colonial ceremonies dressed in original costume. Walk inside the Castilian House where numerous drawings, maps and photos illustrate the history and significance of the fort. • It's nice to have inclusive spaces. And the guides are very educational and entertaining to explain the story involved the Fort. The Museum inside is also interesting

  • The Fort has a nice view, innovative insofar as it bears witness to the time when the Spaniards arrived, evil is strong is not before nor like that metal frame to walk that put him, spoiled it all aesthetics , if they wanted to demarcate by happen where people could have put another thing in another design and material, ugly issue and also little safe for walking, in fact I saw a girl fall because he slipped, according to everyone who we were and we found this surprise Nobody liked it, looks ugly and I insist: unsafe to walk. Unfortunate that they spoil rather than improve historical place.

Where to stay in Niebla

Accommodation options in Niebla remain pretty scant, with the small-town feel of the place not yet repackaged by touristic development. Its genuine local feel means and you won't find any newly built high-rise hotels here. Instead, a couple of guesthouses and rental accommodations sit on the streets of the main urban area. Alternatively, a campground provides a good option for both budget-conscious travelers and those wanting to experience this pleasant spot in a pastoral, low-impact way. For a broad range of accommodations, consider staying in the regional capital Valdivia, just 17.5 km (11 mi) away.
