Saltos del Laja, Los Angeles

3.9
#4 of 20 in Outdoors in Biobio Region
Walk across the bridge for views from above Saltos del Laja, where a set of four horseshoe-shaped waterfalls sit side by side along a total width of 455 m (1,492 ft). The easternmost fall is the tallest cascade here, plunging from a total height of 35 m (114 ft). Because of the site's popularity with local and foreign tourists alike, a number of souvenir stands and restaurants have set up shop a stone's throw from the main attraction, so options for grabbing a bite to eat are plentiful. • Is no charge entry but it is very saturated with vendors, it's nice to go a while to look at and take pictures

  • The waterfalls are beautiful. The tourist infrastructure, when the Laja river is low (between April and October) is very good. The boat ride on the Laja is excellent, cheap and with a very friendly. It is necessary to be careful when approaching the falls since the soil is very clayey and wet it becomes very slippery. Even if it is not enabled for the bathroom, some sectors appear to be adequate and safe for wet feet without risk.

  • Beautiful waterfall and river below. You can go for a swim or boat ride. Admission is free, there are many souvenir kiosks on the way up to the waterfall and also places to eat. They also offer horse rides at the very top. It is quite a bit of a walk up hill, which would be difficult with a wheelchair. It's mostly a smooth path, but part of it is dirt, and another part with steps. It is crazy busy on holidays and not as much water runs down in the summer. Low light would be trash people leave behind. It's so sad to see the poor care of the place. Maybe the local government can implement some regulations to protect it from further damage?
  • thats a good place to visit if you are near by. just for a short time. unfortunately there is nothing more to do than to see the waterfall. but the place is beautiful so get your camera and better some food as all that you can buy is expensive and doesnt worse it.
  • Nice waterfall with pond like formations to go swimming into.
  • Easily accessible from the road. Definitely worth stopping for but be sure to wear your rain jacket if you plan on getting close up to the falls...
  • Good place naturally !! This is just in and out place 1 hour Maximum!!

Where to stay in Los Angeles

The downtown area of Los Angeles provides the main chain hotels in the city, set in newly built tower blocks and offering rooms ranging from basic to mid-range. A few boutique hotels offer characterful rooms, while simpler, family-run guesthouses and hotels sit on the residential side streets. Travelers looking to enjoy an outdoorsy itinerary may wish to look at the options along Las Industrias, a main road to the east of the city center, giving good access to surrounding rural areas.
