La Recova Municipal Market, La Serena

(1.9/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Roam the stalls of La Recova Municipal Market, a market and artisanal fair that dates back to the 17th century as a merchant center. The building was destroyed several times, first by a fire in 1965 and then an earthquake in the 1970s. In 1981, the present market was inaugurated by Augusto Pinochet and was, at the time, the first building with an escalator in the city. Browse the numerous stalls that line the first floor, which sell local delicacies, arts, crafts, souvenirs, and vibrant handmade jewelry. Visit the second floor for a meal at one of the restaurants, which serve traditional local dishes and fresh seafood. • Emblematic place of La Serena. You can also find handicrafts, fruits, and food typical of the region is a place that you can not miss if you are visiting.

  • The Recova is a market mainly in handicrafts and for tourists. They also sell fruit in the area and there are some restaurants without greater glory. It market is equal that makes years, little innovation and investment in improving it and make it more attractive. The crafts are some striking, but save for souvenir. Only recommended if the day is cloudy and there is no better plan or is in the Center and have free time.
