Island Nature / Park
Combine sandy beaches with animal viewing at Isla Damas. Take a tour to the island and keep an eye out for dolphins, as they have been known to swim along with the boats. Once on the island, you can choose from a number of sandy beaches to visit. As a habitat for penguins, the attraction also plays home to many of the birds, which usually gather around the cliffs. Other animals commonly found here include cormorants, sea otters, and sea lions. See Isla Damas and all La Serena has to offer by arranging your trip with our La Serena vacation generator.

Where to stay in La Serena

La Serena provides a varied selection of sleeping options, with the area between the main bus station and the town center featuring at least one hostel on every street. Despite this abundance of lodgings, many hotels book up fast at the height of the tourist season (summer: January-February), and some refuse visitors on single-night stays. If you're looking for the ultimate in space and comfort, consider renting a furnished apartment on the coastline.
