  • In March taking advantage of a trip to Serena decided to once more visit this park, he visited him for at least 50 years, and I feel like every time is reduced more and more, it is clear that ever disappears, its importance lies in that it is a silent witness of the climate changes affecting our planet, this little redoubt that survives thanks to a micro-climate produced by the mist that every day invariably and that rises from the coast clashes in these trees condensing moisture to drop time and maintaining the damp ground, are trees and shrub of the Valdivian jungle, and tells us that one day this area of semi-desert as it is the fourth region was jungle. Returning from Serena by route 5 there is a signposted turn-off and must go toward the coast along a dirt track suitable for all vehicle. It is a must-see, worth it, take our children and show you what causes climate change.

  • A relic of a forest surrounded by near-desert. Great views towards the valleys and to the ocean. Make sure you stop on the way at the small experimental park at Peral Ojo de Agua where the 2 Velázquez...  more »
  • I returned to fray Jorge after 12 years, the road goes bad to worse, the first part is terrible for small vehicles and the ascent to the forest is also! The ideal is to go on a 4 x 4 vehicle, however I was in my car, a Chevrolet Aveo (two-door) and we were able to get up above! With difficulty but managed it! After the entrance to the park there is a picnic area where there are bathrooms and a room with information, then gets into the forest, which is located at the top of a mountain and it is here when the road gets rough, go with caution! The forest is beautiful and magical, unique in the North of the country by what the effort is worthwhile! (Y lo mejor de todo es que existe un sendero habilitado para sillas de rueda =) we are a few brothers in peral Ojo de Agua making a guided tour towards fray Jorge and a conservation area where we saw a Fox, many birds and met a lot of typical flora of the area! An amazing place!

It should be noted that we must wear warm clothes, since this cloud about 200 days a year and runs long wind

  • No doubt impresses find a forest Valdivia in the middle of an ecosystem semi-desert. A relict forest, nurtured by the camanchaca, impresses. This microclimate, soil, forest Moss... Act as a sponge, capable of sustaining many other contiguous to this species. Nearby, streams, shelter a huge diversity of species both flora and fauna, with a high degree of endemism. It has a path for people with different abilities. Excellent facilities and infrastructure. It is very important to consider reviewing website, hours and days which is open in the respective seasons.

  • The forested part is very tiny, for someone who is South (conce South) I do not think it worthwhile. For those who are more than the North may be more advisable
