Enchanted Valley (Valle del Encanto), La Serena

Categories: Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 80+ reviews on the web
Survey the ancient petroglyphs at Enchanted Valley (Valle del Encanto), featuring designs carved into rocks over 2,500 years ago. These ruins represent an excellent example of Molle pre-Columbian archaeology and provide some evidence of a hunter-gatherer civilization that existed over 4,000 years ago. Take a guided tour to bring the trip alive with stories and insight into the region and its history. The trail to the ruins is easy and accessible enough; still, you should wear sturdy boots to navigate the less well-maintained gravel road. Make Enchanted Valley (Valle del Encanto) a part of your La Serena vacation plans using our La Serena tour planner.

  • Good site for those who like archaeology and to walk a little in a relaxing place, but I think missing investment, at least include distances and wooden signs indicative with more information. The door (nice and warm) Guide gives you a brochure that explains something and input valid 700 pesos, but is in very wild and one must venture out to see where are the rocks with pictograms. Anyway beautiful experience.

  • This very hot Valley in summer, houses a rich collection of petroglyphs of cultures molle and diaguita, I suggest to visit it in spring to not only appreciate the archeological remains but also the flora that surrounds it. If you are from la Serena leave early and take advantage to Barraza, you won't regret it.
