Where to stay in Iquique

For dependable chain options, look for hotels located along the beachfront--a good area for anyone visiting Iquique to swim, surf, and paraglide. Hotels near the beach also tend to stay relatively expensive throughout the year, so if you're visiting on a budget, consider one of the city's many hostels. Rental apartments distributed across Iquique accommodate visitors looking for more privacy and space.

  • We were lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins showing off for us - the guide said he had never seen them before off Iquique. Many pelicans, sea lions and cormorants, but the penguins are more elusive....  more »
  • They take you out to the place the Esmeralda sank. If you're lucky you can see sealions and seals at the port. Nice boat ride that takes about half an hour.  more »
  • The boats that depart for this trip, first to gather people (in my case wait 35 minutes) to a minimum of visitors number, they charge $3,000.-per person and the tour lasts approx. 1 hour. I must emphasize to Don Luis, the boat Guide. I have made several trips by boat on Chile, but this guide is without a doubt the best. Not only gives many historical data, but also speaks of as felt the climate change in the region, really very passionate in their work, hopefully all the guides were as this man.
