Categories: Ruins, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web
Feel the mysteries of Easter Island at Ahu Vaihu, a complex of ruins surrounded by verdant cliffs and azure ocean. You can inspect eight examples of "moai," the famed statues of Easter Island, at the site. The eight moai, however, have been felled over time, and now lie face down with broken necks, the weakest parts of the moai structures. Pay special attention to the paina, a circle of stones where rituals and ceremonies would take place. Before you head to Hanga Roa, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Hanga Roa travel itinerary planner, to make sure you see all that Hanga Roa has to offer, including Ahu Vaihu.

  • It makes a couple of days I enable a new access, which will help visitors to an income more secure place. It is hoped that farmers in the sector avoid to let their animals loose helping care for the archaeological rest of the Ahu Vaihu and Tahira.

  • It is a little known site, located on the South coast of the island, almost on the seashore. Like most Moai, these are located close to a Cove. The site however was not restored and 8 still lie on the ground, toppled the Moai face underneath. Some statues have a broken neck and the pukao are rolled away (someone was recovered at the bottom of the sea in 1986). Not far away, near the road, then there is a Moai block, standing.
