Tolhuaca National Park is a Protected Area created on October 16, 1935 in an area of 3,500 ha that was previously part of the Malleco National Reserve. In 1985, a second section of Malleco National Reserve was also made part of the national park. Malleco National Reserve was the first protected wildlife area in both Chile and South America, so the land within Tolhuaca National Park is one of the oldest protected areas on the continent.LocationThe park is located in the commune of Curacautín, which lies within Malleco Province in La Araucania Region in southern Chile. It encompasses part of the forested lower western spurs and foothills of the Andes. Adjoining the park to the north is Malleco National Reserve. The park has an elevation of 700- asl. It includes small lakes and numerous ponds, among them the Laguna Malleco and the Laguna Verde. The source of the Malleco River is located within the park and Tolhuaca volcano is situated in near the park, dominating its vistas.Access and attractionsThere are two main point of access to the park. The first is via "Inspector Fernandes Road", 5 km north of the town of Victoria, along 74 km of gravel road. The second access is located at Kilometre 34 on the road between Curacautín and Tolhuaca Hot Springs.Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Parque Nacional Tolhuaca by using our Curacautin online holiday maker .

Trails, River, lagoon, huge park, with toilets and showers with water hot, laundries. Excellent to relax and enjoy the outdoors, peace and nature. Totally recommended minimum 3 days to learn, explore and enjoy.
Un lindo paseo que vale mucho la pena recorrer. Si bien la ruta de acceso desde la 5 sur es como morder ladrillo, el destino lo amerita. Hay un sendero que recorre humedales, una laguna, árboles milen... more »Take a nice walk that is worth much. Even though the path from the 5 South is as biting brick, the destination warrants. There is a trail that runs through wetlands, a lagoon, ancient trees, mientraa are heard the songs of birds in the background.
Este excelente Parque Nacional ubicado en la Araucanía Andina, tiene la ventaja de recibir menos visitantes que sus vecinos estrellas como el Conguillío y El Huerquehue. Pese a esto, y por esto mismo,... more »This excellent National Park located in the Araucanía Andina, has the advantage of receiving fewer visitors than its neighbours star the Huerquehue and the Conguillío. Despite this, and for this reason itself, landscapes and paths that you can visit have a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I recommend the hike to Laguna Verde which mean around four hours of walking quite demanding but which offers open views of coigüe and Araucaria forests. As a corollary to the effort is atop the beautiful green lagoon, surrounded by native forest to its shores. Another trip is to the jump of the Malleco, 800 meters from the campsite where you can park the car. This place is more crowded, with people bathing in the Lagoon (although bans) but with a beautiful jump at the end (I would say that you one of the most high and impressive in the South of Chile). The slope you can spend with the baths of the Malleco (ex Tolhuaca) with good infrastructure. I emphasize the attention of Conaf officials, it shows that they like the work they do and thanks them.
Great Park, though needs better descriptions for each of the walk about WHY they are good, not just their locatkons
One of the best national parks. He rescues too much that the landscapes are operated in the least. Without a doubt should stay more than one day. We went for a while, because we were not informed and only managed to make the trail hop Malleco (2.2 km)
A place nearby and a cost zero. Trails, lakes, hot springs, ancient nature, everything and more... Close to the city. 1000% recommended to go with family, with friends, couple, solo.
Excellent place to disconnect from the technology, explore nature and return with renewed energy...
It is a very nice place and there is much to explore...
