Chillan Cathedral, Chillan

Categories: Churches, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web
Survey the idiosyncratic architecture of Chillan Cathedral, a cathedral built in the mid 19th century as a tribute to the almost 6,000 lives lost in the massive 1939 earthquake that devastated the city of Chillán. The 11 parabolic arcs that adorn the structure act as thoroughly modernist, emblematic, and striking features of the church, built to represent prayer and interwoven hands. Head inside to see how natural light seeps in throughout the length of the church. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Chillan holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Chillan Cathedral and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • A Cathedral with an architecture that is very different from the others. Very old and still retains the old. It is very nice to meet somewhere. Most beautiful is night.

  • Dont have nothing special, is one more. Is near at the Plaza de Armas, perhaps you can see a wedding but not more.
  • This Cathedral is beautiful. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful of Chile, with a unique architectural style. It is located in the main square of the city.
