Church of Castro, Castro

Categories: Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Originally built in 1567 to convert the indigenous people, Church of Castro now serves as the city's main Catholic church. Designed in the Neo-Gothic style of architecture, the church differs greatly in appearance from others in the city. Its structure consists of local wood, while the facade, roof, and external lining are all made of galvanized iron. The brightly painted exterior makes it stand out among the other buildings on the adjacent plaza. When you tour the interior, look for the image of the Archangel Michael victorious over Satan, and try to visit during a service to sit among the wooden pews and admire the stained glass windows. Make Church of Castro a centerpiece of your Castro vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Castro tour planner.

  • The Church of Castro is located in the center of this city, is built entirely of wood, which gives it a peculiar touch. It is yellow and purple, the first is the color of the Vatican and the purple color of the tunic of Christ the Redeemer.
