Playa la virgen, Caldera

Stranded on the coast in the middle of desert dunes and hills, Playa la virgen attracts visitors with its white sand and calm turquoise waters. A bit remote and difficult to access, this pristine beach focuses on ecotourism. Pick a place on a wooden sun lounger under a straw umbrella, or bring your own beach equipment. If you wish to stay overnight, rent one of the wooden cabins in the surrounding hills overlooking the beach. Amenities include public restrooms, a spacious parking lot, and a restaurant. Bring cash and prepare to spend a day without mobile phone service. Plan to see Playa la virgen and other attractions that appeal to you using our Caldera online travel planner .

  • While it is true, the beach was ranked as one of the most beautiful in Chile, but I must say that on my last visit I found that it is not so. First, because you must pay a price of $5,000 pesos to enter, access is by a private land (abuse). Access to the beach is very bad and away from civilization, and beach does not already have this turquoise color that I met two years ago, and I hope that nature will return the charm. Beach, I must say that it is nice to be there, but inisto that the black point of this place payment adds it to access a heritage of Chileans and tourists from all over the world.

  • The place is very cute and Nice, apart from quiet given the date in which I was, also if you just walk you get by hiring a tour or in collective that comes out like an expensive pokito, but it certainly is one of the most beautiful beaches of chile , white sand and crystal clear water, far the best.

  • The way to arrive is not the best, but we saw vehicles all around type. There is a paid parking lot that you quite close to the beach. Otherwise you must walk down a drop more or less long, depending on whether your friends are with child or can not be something difficult, especially the rise in turn. The beach itself is very small, but very beautiful and quiet to enjoy.

Where to stay in Caldera

The main selection of accommodations in Caldera lie just north of Batallion Atacama, offering good access to the waterfront and the town's main amenities, including restaurants, cafes, and stores. Hotels of great variety sit on the major boulevards and side streets, while rental apartments offer a good option for those planning an extended stay. Consider exploring the lodging options of the coastal areas north and south of town, where small boutique and resort-style hotels make good use of the extra space with additional facilities and extensive views of the coast, just a short drive from the conveniences of the main urban area.
