In the foothills of the Andes, Vina Santa Rita occupies some of the best Chilean wine-growing lands and boasts one of the country's oldest aging cellars, designated as a national monument. Take a guided tour through the process of fermentation, storage, and bottling, and find out how the famous "120" wine got its name from soldiers who found a safe haven on this property during the war of independence. The hidden treasure of the winery is its private museum, housing nearly 2,000 pieces of pre-Columbian art. We asked for advice on which of a number of available vineyards to visit and Santa Rita was the number one choice. Our guide around the winery (a Mongolian!) was generally knowledgable but stumbled...

WARNING - the wine tour is a bait and switch. It wasn’t actually a wine tour although they did try to serve wine at the end (but only served 2 wines not the 3 promised - and one of them was 120 - one of the cheapest wines in Chile). We weren’t explained how the wine was made. We didn’t even get to see the vineyard. Our guide Victor took us to a garden instead. The garden was beautiful, and the museum is great, but not what we came for. The tour guides have been asking management to update the website to explain what the tour is during COVID but they won’t do it. I’m guessing it’s because they want tourists to keep coming. Literally awful and by far the worst wine tour I have ever experienced.

It's really awesome! The entire place is really good to know! I recommend for everyone! To Brazilians they have a really nice Sommelier talking native Portuguese in the tour. The tour with tasting is amazing, really worth it!
-
Excellent place to visit near Santiago. It has a magnificent restaurant “Doña Paula”. Very recommended!

Our guide, Daniel, provided both informative and entertaining tour of the vineyard, historic gardens, buildings (magnificent church originally for owner's family and now used for special events), cask storage area, and cellar wine tasting session. On site store sells various Santa Rita wines and souvenirs. English and Spanish short video and museum quality display presented Santa Rita's impact on the revolution for independence from Spain.
